On the 28th of November I had the pleasure of playing for the launch of the stunning Ferrari 458 Speciale straight from Italy, this left hand drive demo was on display at the Media and VIP Launch event at the Australian Technology Park, Sydney.
It was a classy black tie affair, filled with flair and finesse. I was asked to complement the vibe so I layed down alot of soul funk and house tunes accompanied by a very talented saxophinist which set the tone for the unveiling of Ferrari’s new machine. It was quite an honor, to be in a room full of Ferrari’s hand picked clients. The event was sponsored by Verve Cliquot which provided amazing entertainment which i managed to capture! Amazing night and unreal experience and definitely a career highlight!
A big thank you to my agency Funk Ink for making it all possible.
The 458 Speciale developed primarily for track use can hit 0-100km/h in 3.0sec flat and has a 9000rpm red line and also features some outstanding technology such as Side Slip Control and sports some new aerodynamics and a low fat interior to cut down the weight compared to the normal 458.
The stunning 458 Speciale was surrounded by some other special prancing horses such as the F599 Scuderia, and F360 F1 and F430 F1 Editions.
Such an amazing experience, this year Sollarium Entertainment held their 2013 Brasilian Carnival at the Ivy courtyard! It was such an electrifying experience as the rain came down while the samba dancers and batacuda drummer went into full effect! It was a full house, and the crowed was loving Rhythm Brazil as they played a host of brasilian dance floor anthems and snuck in versions of their own top 40 pleasers. I had the pleasure of sharing DJ duties with Wendall Hoten (Brasil) & Felipe Moura (Brasil).
If you missed out this year, stay posted for the next one! This event is definitely something not to be missed if you happen to be in town for it!
check out the video, it says 2012 but im pretty sure this is the footage from the last carnival
ChittyBang Touring & 8 Ball entertainment is proud to be presenting leading independent rapper Hopsin with his label mates from Funk Volume as they undertake the FV2012 tour.
Hopsin toured Australia in late 2011 as a fledgling artist with a new album “RAW” and a dedicated fan base built from the ground up via social media connections and solid musical talent.
In 2009 Hopsin released his debut album on Eazy-E’s label Ruthless Records, “Gazing at the Moonlight” with stand out tracks like “Pans in the Kitchen”. Hopsin and Ruthless never really connected, so he moved on, founded Funk Volume and independently flipped the script.
Since releasing his “RAW” album he has been busy touring and releasing solid hits with his “Ill Mind of Hopsin” series, teaser tracks from his upcoming Knock Madness album as well as guest features including Tech N9ne’s track “Am I a Psycho” and the XXL Freshman of the Year Cypher.
He was featured on the cover of XXL Magazine as one of the Freshmen of the Year for 2012.
Hopsin’s “Ill Mind of Hopsin 4” has received over 17 Million Youtube views in just over a year which has almost been surpassed by “Ill Mind of Hopsin 5” which has clocked over 16 Million views in two months! It was one of few videos to clock 2 million views in 24 hours, debuting at number 17 on Billboard.com’s Social 50 chart.
Hip Hop aficionados at Hip Hop blog The Smoking Section write “Hopsin is his own double-edged sword. From a technical standpoint, this LA MC’s talent rivals any promising up & comer being hyped right now”.
Hopsin has even managed to make a few enemies along the way by dissing artists like The Game, Lil’ Wayne, Lupe Fiasco, Tyler the Creator and a slew of other Hip Poppers. But don’t think dissing and bullshit are Hopsin’s only forte. The social commentary on today’s youth espoused in “Ill Mind of Hopsin 5” shows he has a conscience and a way of narrating the plight of a generation of brainwashed kids.
Funk Volume is an independent power house in the Hip Hop industry and their artist roster is evident of their dedication to the art. FV represent some of the independent rap world’s key holders in Dizzy Wright, SwizZz, Jarren Benton and DJ Hoppa.
Dizzy Wright has won BET’s “Wild Out Wednesdays” as well as Sheikh Music’s “Rip The Mic” where Funk Volume were impressed with his smooth style and ability to rock the crowd. As Dizzy D Flashy he racked up some impressive mixtapes and Youtube views before becoming Dizzy Wright and really having an impact. Often compared to Whiz Khalifa, Dizzy proves he is more than capable of putting out inspiring music as well as some more “herbal” sounds.
Jarren Benton is the Skitzo of the group. He is the latest signee and the wild card in the deck. Jarren Benton has been rapping his arse off for over a decade (starting at age 10) but a lot of people had not wised up to him until his signing to Funk Volume. With hilarious punch lines and often deranged verses Jarren’s mixtapes such as “Huffing Glue With Hasselhoff” and “Freebasing With Kevin Bacon” are must haves for any Hip Hop heads collection. Jarren has recently collaborated with Rittz and Jon Connor on his “Billion Bucks” song, and the video for the same is a riotous parody of the “money and b@#ches” rap so prevalent in today’s Hip Hop world.
Currently touring 42 dates around the USA followed by a European leg, the Funk Volume FV2012 Tour is huge! Australia gets to be a part of it late November with shows in the Gold Coast, Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide. Tickets are expected to sell out at the major shows so get online to Oztix.com.au now to secure yours.
Last week I had the pleasure & honor of being the selector for tunes at the World Fire Fighter Games 2012 between the 19th & 28th of October, this included our local servicemen & women from NSW Fire & rescue, and Fire Fighters from around the globe representing their countries from every continent across the globe.
It was quite an experience and I wish it didnt have to come to an end! I guess like all good things that would be inevitable. Highlight was definitely Seeing the Festival directors teaching 50+ year old Korean servicemen the Macarena on International Day & Tuesday night singles night, the dance floor was pumping and the ladies were on the prowl! Other Highlights include the strong man competition, arm wrestling and dodge bal!
I was also interviewed by the lovely Jessica Lever, who posted my responses on her 5 Things Project Blog ill upload more photos as I come across them!
Yesterday I had the pleasure of joining an esteemed line up of Sydney DJ’s @ Sony Music Australia headquarters to help celebrate the release of Timomatic’s New Self titled Album : Timomatic
I first met Timomatic while he was on tour with SYTYCD Australia teaching workshops at the Australian Dance Festival where I was dropping beats for the battles. Following his success with the Top 10 for 2009 SYTYCD, its been quite a journey of success so far for Timomatic and from the sounds of his latest album it appears he has only really just begun! He took us through each track and it was inspiring to have him tell us his story in person and explain his journey. The Album consists of a handful of up beat club & festival hitters. He balances this out with some down tempo R&B and shows us his range not only in his voice, but that he is the complete package as a performer. Looking forward to hearing more from Timomatic be sure to stay posted to www.timomatic.com for updates on when he is performing next and check out this new release which is available for pre-order on iTunes and will be in stores soon.
Shout out to the Chief Rocker DJ Nino Brown for inviting us all down, this can only help us grow more local talent by supporting the local industry and connecting the missing links between our artist and the DJ’s that bring the beats to the dance floors & air waves across the nation.
